Shave's Yard (Court)

Shaves Yard , Tudor entrance Norwich. George Plunkett’s photo reproduced by kind permission of J Plunkett

Located at 16 Colegate, the yard was probably named after William Shave, who was a brushmaker at Colegate in the 1880s. It was also known as Shores's Court.

Pictured in 1978 is the Tudor Gateway to the yard, dated 1570, which indicates that it may at some time have been the entrance to a grand house.
