Dial Yard
Located at 5 Oak Street (Coslany Street before 1890), the yard was formerly the house of Gregory Clerk.
Clerk, a mercer who attained the rank of mayor in 1505 & 1514 would have been surprised to see the state of his previous home. It is reported that in his day the main chamber of the house had been decorated with richly carved panels - as befitted his station.
The yard is pictured in 1937, just prior to it being demolished as part of Norwich's slum clearance programme.
