Cardinal's Cap Yard

Cardinals Cap Yard, Norwich. George Plunkett’s photo reproduced by kind permission of J Plunkett

Located at 84 - 86 St Benedict Street, the yard took its name from the Cardinal's Cap Pub (pictured in 1936), which was first recorded here in 1760. The pub was damaged during air raids in 1942 but survived until 1963. It is believed that the name refers to Cardinal Wolsey's visits to Norwich in 1517 & 1520.
