Bayfield's Yard
The yard located at 57 - 59 Magdalen Street probably took its name from either Gabriel P Bayfield, an ironmonger at 34 Magdalen Street in 1830 or Thomas Bayfield, an ironmonger on Magdalen Street in the 1870s.
This photograph taken by George Plunkett shows the entrance to the yard complete with lovely tudor carvings, giving some indication that it may have originally been the entrance to a wealthy merchant's house.
The Yard was lost in the early 1970s
